Day 3 - Adlibing Ayutthaya

Our first train trip in Asia went off without any hitches and we were lucky enough to have a seat for the hour and a half journey (even though we almost didn't make it at all as the train overheated about 10 minutes into the trip) - Liv even had a snooze. On arrival in the Ancient Capital of Ayutthaya, we went to our wonderful hostel, and although the room wasn't 5-star, the service certainly was! We are starting to learn patience when communicating, which is helping a lot.

We spent the day with a personal tuk-tuk driver taking us around the ancient temple ruins of the city - absolutely beautiful. Our list of destinations included: Wat Nahathat, Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Thammikkarat, Wat Na Phra Men, Wihan Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Phra Si Samphet, The Grand Palace, and finally Wat Lokayasutharam.

We feasted with the locals at the night market beside the river - where Adam almost died of a chilli-overdose, after ordering, once again, the chilli dish. Liv, once again, had vegetable fried rice - this is not out of lack of wanting to try more, but lack of non-meat meals. If anyone needs to know a good place for fried rice in Thailand, Liv's your girl! We also got to try some new (and delicious) fruit, half a kilo for 35c.
