After a quick breakfast we headed into central Bangkok to our hotel. Lesson number 1: don't take hotel taxis - it only costs 500baht to Bangkok, not 900!
We finally made it to the Shanghai Inn, in China Town, Bangkok, to see Liv's name on the Welcome Board - not sure we'll ever see this again, because Liv's Mum has paid for the only 4-star hotel we'll stay in on this trip! The cost is way over our budget - but boy was it nice to stay in luxury for the first real night in Bangkok!
The day was spent shopping for glasses and contacts for Liv - a true bargain was finally found after a few hours, which is not too bad considering the mall (MBK) was 7 huge stories!
At lunch Adam finally breaks and has his first Singha beer, with many more to come!
After learning lesson number 2: friendly "strangers", aren't actually that friendly and are part of the "TAT" group - a Thai tourist organisation. But after learning lots about what to do and where to go, we passed on the TAT's offer and decided to do it all ourselves at a fraction of the price.
A dinner in China Town was followed by a trip to the Night Markets, where we finally got much needed jandals, and got to see a stage show and walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.
After our tuk-tuk broke down on the way home (but luckily managed to coast down the hills to the hotel) we retired to our luxury bed!
